When Immediate Travel May Not Be Appropriate
Some patients and families consider international travel as soon as they learn about potential treatment options abroad.
However, immediate travel is not always appropriate.
Before making travel arrangements, it may be important to confirm whether hospital review in Korea may be possible, whether additional information is required, whether consultation or treatment can be considered, and whether the patient’s condition allows safe travel.
Factors that may influence travel suitability include:
- Overall medical condition and performance status
- Recent disease progression or need for urgent treatment
- Ability to tolerate long-distance travel
In some situations, additional medical review may be helpful before committing to international travel.
For some patients, preliminary review may help clarify whether further evaluation in Korea is reasonable before making travel and financial arrangements.
A hospital review request does not automatically mean that travel is recommended. Likewise, the availability of a treatment option does not necessarily mean that a patient is medically fit to travel.

* Final treatment decisions and travel recommendations are determined solely by the treating hospitals and physicians.
