From Preliminary Review to Formal Consultation
A preliminary case review is intended to determine whether further evaluation by a Korean hospital may be appropriate.
If the case proceeds to further hospital review, CT, MRI, or PET-CT imaging files in DICOM format may be requested.
A formal consultation is different from a preliminary review.
During a formal consultation, the specialist medical team reviews the submitted records and evaluates the patient’s condition in greater detail. Depending on the hospital’s policy and the clinical situation, consultation may take place online or in person.
Additional tests or updated medical records may be requested before or after consultation.
A formal consultation does not automatically guarantee treatment eligibility or hospital acceptance. Treatment recommendations and final decisions are determined solely by the treating hospitals and physicians.
APIS helps reduce coordination burden by identifying a relevant Korean hospital, confirming required documents, communicating with the hospital’s appropriate department, and supporting appointment scheduling when further review may be appropriate.
