What Hospitals and Physicians Determine
APIS coordinates communication and document submission with Korean hospitals.
Medical decisions remain with the treating hospitals and physicians.
APIS does not determine:
- The diagnosis
- Whether the patient is eligible for treatment
- Which treatment should be performed
- Whether particle therapy is appropriate
- Whether the hospital will accept the case
- Whether the patient is medically fit to travel
- The expected treatment outcome
The hospital may request additional records, recommend another department, or conclude that the proposed treatment is not appropriate.
APIS organizes the communication process so that patients and families can understand what information is required and what the hospital’s next step will be.
