APIS: International Medical Coordination for Proton and Carbon Ion Therapy

What APIS Coordinates

International cancer care involves more than selecting a hospital. Medical records must be prepared, the appropriate department identified, and communication with the hospital coordinated.

APIS coordinates the practical steps required to request review by Korean hospitals, including:

  • Initial case intake and review of the available information
  • Identification of relevant Korean hospitals and departments
  • Confirmation of required medical records and imaging
  • Submission of documents to the hospital
  • Communication during the hospital review process
  • Requesting hospital-provided cost estimates
  • Coordination of consultations and appointments
  • Translation, scheduling, and practical arrangements when needed

Hospitals determine whether consultation or treatment is appropriate and provide their own treatment plans and cost estimates. APIS coordinates the process but does not make clinical decisions or set hospital charges.
